The chassis and components shortages that started two years ago, continue to create challenges for the organizations and municipalities that are need of buses and vans across the country. In addition to shortages, manufacturers backlogs for new vehicle production continues to grow creating a delivery timeframe that is unreasonable.
To help combat the shortage and delivery issues, the FTA has announced that recipients of FTA financial assistance are now eligible for a 24-month waiver on the purchase of vehicles between November 1, 2022, and October 31, 2024. For certain vehicle types and sizes, this waiver is granted to allow a shorter minimum useful life extension of two (2) years, or 50,000 miles.
